The Presto 06300 Dehydro is proof that sometimes, simple really is better. With a clever design and affordable price, the Dehydro gives you all the features you need and nothing more. It’s not a perfect dehydrator, but it’s a smart choice for beginners and those with a smaller budget.

Presto 06300 Dehydro Electric Food Dehydrator Review
The Presto Dehydro is a simple dehydrator with a smart design. It won’t take up too much space in your kitchen, and when you’re done using it, the trays nest for compact, easy storage.
This is a four-tray system that can be expanded to eight. The trays are sturdy and durable, but not ideal for making fruit leather or dehydrating “drippy” foods. Presto does sell fruit roll sheets and non-stick mesh screens if you want to use the Dehydro for these.
We do want to note that you’ll need to buy additional trays if you want to expand beyond the included four. All of the trays are dishwasher-safe, too, which makes clean-up a breeze.
The heating element and fan are both mounted onto the bottom of the machine, so foods are dried quickly and evenly, and airflow stays consistent.
If you’re worried about this machine being complicated, don’t be. It’s so easy to use. When you’re ready to dry, simply: chop up your foods, place them on the trays, stack the trays and turn the unit on. It really doesn’t get much easier than that.

We were a little disappointed that this model didn’t include a thermostat or timer, but for the price, we can’t complain.
One of the more impressive features of this dehydrator is its smart storage design. When you’re done using, the cord is easily stored in the base of the machine. The trays nest, too, which saves 36% storage space. Just flip every other tray to store neatly inside the previous one. If you have a smaller kitchen or are short on space, this space-saving design is invaluable.
We had a positive experience with the Presto Dehydro. It was easy to use, and our dried fruits were delicious. We’re confident that even beginners will have no problem using this dehydrator.
- Plenty of drying space
- Can be expanded to 8 trays
- Consistent, even heating for quick drying
- Easy to use
- Compact storage design saves on space
- Quick clean-up
- No thermostat
The only gripe we had with this dehydrator is that it doesn’t have a thermostat. Some foods, like herbs, need to be dried at lower temperatures to keep enzymes active and nutrients intact. With no option to adjust the temperature, some foods may be ruined if left to dry for too long. That said, this seems to be an issue with most low-cost dehydrators.
If you’re a beginner, casual user or on a tight budget, you’ll love the Presto Dehydro. It’s so easy to use, and its nesting trays save on space. It’s not ideal for drying delicate foods, like herbs, but if you’re looking for a simple machine for drying fruits and vegetables, we highly recommend this model.
